Golden Key highlighted in House of Lords debate

The Lib-Dem peer Baroness Janke, former leader of Bristol City Council, mentioned the Golden Key Programme in a recent House of Lords debate on mental health.

During her contribution to the debate, Baroness Janke focused on ‘the significant numbers of people with multiple and complex needs’ who she described as often being ‘the farthest away from services’. Baroness Janke went on to say that ‘traditional ways of working are simply not working’ and that ‘conventional services are not addressing their needs but are being used in an ineffective and costly way’.

Baroness Janke then highlighted the work of the Golden Key programme, describing how ‘the project helps people to drive their own recovery by providing support, by reconfiguring services, and by enlisting the help of people who have had the experience of living through similar issues and who have come through it to regain their own lives.’
